Do you have a desire to learn a new language? In the Art of Silent Communication, students will be immersed in American Sign Language over the course of 4 weeks. We will learn why people rely on American Sign Language to communicate. Together, we will explore the alphabet, greetings, basic phrases, and by the end of this cluster, we will learn how to sign a song! Get excited, this group is going to have a blast!

Come join us Under the Sea! This cluster is designed to allow students to dive deep into the ocean. We will explore the ocean habitat and learn about the mysterious creatures that inhabit this beautiful place. Students will become junior marine biologists as they participate in engaging and exploratory challenges that include science, math, reading, writing and art.

Welcome to the world of Harry Potter as Hogwarts comes to Mineola. Students will travel a path similar to Potter’s by joining their favorite house using the Sorting Hat as an introduction, following with WebEx sessions and KidOYO challenges including classes about Potions, Wands, Spells and Charms, Quidditch, Herbology, Muggle Studies and more. The culminating final week will be the celebration of becoming an official wizard, right here in Mineola!

This course explores the history of rockets through the NASA space program. This course will introduce the basic physics and engineering of rockets, and students will use this knowledge to build their own water and air pressure water rockets!!

Do you love ice cream and other desserts? If so, then this is the cluster for you! Come enjoy with other passionate dessert fans as we explore the science behind how ice cream is made (and even make your own ice cream at home!). We will research and create our very own ice cream shop out of at home materials and market our shops for other dessert enthusiasts. Along this delicious journey, you will explore a dessert of your choice to research and share with the group. We will culminate this cluster with a sweet celebration!

Have you ever wondered what school could be like if you were given the opportunity to design it? In this course, we will be exploring some of the most unique, innovative and creative ideas based on school systems around the world. We will “travel” to places like Finland, Japan and various schools across the United States to learn about recess/break time, “camp school”, classroom layout/building design, internships, technology, the arts, student choice and more! Throughout this course you will be tasked with designing a dream school and creating a school reform proposal, based around an idea you wish to see happen right here, in Mineola!

What is your favorite animal? Could it be elephants, tigers, gorillas, pandas or polar bears? Many of our favorite animals on Earth today are at risk of becoming extinct! We can help save the animals and make the planet a better place. Let’s take a trip around the world to see how we can keep some of our favorite animals safe! Student’s in Mission Save the Animals will explore problems and create possibilities and solutions.

Welcome to 3D modeling and printing! In this KidOYO Pathway, students will learn how to use Tinkercad, a free 3D modeling software, to create 3D printed objects. Students will have the opportunity to design multiple creations and 3D print objects that will be shipped to their homes throughout this enrichment experience. Explore the world of 3D printing.
